Euroaspire III Romania – The Need to Reinforce Cardiac Rehabilitation in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease
Aims: To investigate the current practice regarding cardiac rehabilitation in the west region of our country, analyzing the 566 Romanian coronary patients included in EuroAspire III, a multicentric European Survey.
Material and methods: Inclusion criteria and study design followed the EuroAspire III survey protocol. We evaluated life style trends and cardiovascular risk factors management using questionnaire method, measuring anthropometric and hemodinamic parameters and performing blood tests.
Results: We enrolled in the survey566 coronary patients, 24% of them reported being advised to attend cardiac rehabilitation programs and 14% participated in a comprehensive CR. Patients who participated in cardiac rehabilitation were mainly men, from urban area, aged-related retired, associating various risk factors, who underwent myocardial revascularization surgery - 48%, or interventional procedures - 49%. True Malignant Mixed Tumor (Carcinosarcoma) of the Parotid Gland – Case Report
Objective: True malignant mixed tumor (carcinosarcoma) is an extremely rare tumor in salivary glands pathology, consisting of both carcinomatous and sarcomatous components. The majority are seen in the parotid gland.
Material and method: We report here a case of a 53 year old female patient from urban area, nonsmoker, who was admitted in ENT Department Timişoara in 2006, for a mass in the left parotid region, which appeared five months before, gradually increasing in size. We discuss diagnostic and treatment of this pathologic entity.
Results: Histopathological results revealed a parotid gland carcinosarcoma, exhibiting features of adenocarcinoma (epithelial element) and fibrosarcomatous areas. [...]

Clinical, Morphological and Immunological Correlations in Celiac Disease Children Diagnosed by Screening
Objectives: To perform a screening study on a pediatric group that associates certain risk factors for celiac disease (CD) and to correlate the clinical forms of disease withthe serum level of IgA anti tissue transglutaminase antibodies (IgA tTG) and with the severity of intestinal injury.
Patients and methods: The research was performed between January 2008 and December 2008. The study included a group of patients diagnosed with CD, divided in two subgroups. The first subgroup included 10 patients diagnosed with CD during the serological screening and confirmed by histological examination. The second subgroup included 14 known celiac patients monitored in our clinic. The serological tests used for CD screening included IgA anti endomysial antibodies (EMA) and IgA tTG. In case of positive result for at least one of these tests, the intestinal biopsy was performed. The histological interpretation was done according to Marsh criteria. [...]
